The reason was Biden's inability to hold even a wreath of flowers in his hands. In a New York Post video that has gone viral online, the US President is seen asking a member of the honor guard for help in placing a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
After paying his respects and placing the wreath, Biden starts to leave, but finally stops and turns to the soldier as if to say something. The soldier raises his hand to show the President where his deputy Kamala Harris is a few feet away, and Biden then walks in that direction.
The apparent confusion of the American president has also been commented on by Republican politicians. " May God have mercy on us. We have a president who doesn't know where he stands or where he is ," said Representative Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey.

Even his rival in the race for the White House, Donald Trump, had mocked Biden for his disoriented performances in front of the cameras.
