Summary trial for Goro at the GJKKO, on February 10th, claims

The former mayor of Himara, Jorgo Goro, will be tried in a shortened time in the Special Court, while on February 10, SPAK is expected to read the claim against him.

The former mayor's request for a summary trial, a type of trial that reduces the sentence by one third in the event of guilt, was accepted by the court in Monday's session.

In the Special Court, Goro is facing charges of "abuse of office" in two cases during the registration of two plots of land on the Himara coast and for "concealing and failing to declare assets."

His co-defendants, Vezir Gjikoka and Jerasimo Basho, will also be subject to the summary trial, while the other defendant, Bilbil Aliaj, was singled out for a regular trial.

At Monday's session, in the hall where former mayor Goro was also present, prosecutor Olsi Dado read the request for trial, alleging that he violated the law while leading the Himara Municipality.

According to SPAK, from the position of mayor, he has registered a land area of 5512 m2 in violation of the law. In a second episode, he is suspected of having superimposed a land area of 5080 m2 on a state property. Both of these land areas were later used for the account of a strategic investment, where the husband of former minister Olta Xhaçka also had a share.

According to SPAK, Goro did not declare an apartment in Tirana that he owned. After being briefed on the indictment, the court postponed the hearing to February 10, where the prosecution's final conclusions are expected to be heard.  (A2 Televizion)
