Debates and accusations have accompanied the next meeting of the Tirana municipal council. Opposition councilors have reiterated the demand for the dismissal of Erion Veliaj from the post of mayor, after he was found guilty on Wednesday.
Anuela Ristani, who remained the acting mayor of Tirana, did not comment on the opposition's request to dismiss Erion Veliaj. But the response came bluntly from the group of socialist councilors.
The Democrats accused Prime Minister Rama of violating the constitution, local autonomy and occupying the Tirana municipality.
Even in this case, Anuela Ristani did not make any comments, while the intervention was made only by Megi Fino, the president of the Municipal Council.
The agenda had 18 items, one of which and the most discussed was the transfer of the "Palace of Congresses" building to the administration of the Ministry of Culture. The debates also continued on the action of freeing up public spaces, where the Democrats requested clarifications on how to deal with the dilapidated buildings, but which have permits from the Tirana municipality.
After three hours of debates and discussions, the Municipal Council, with the majority cards, passed the agenda items, while some of them were postponed at the request of the opposition. Meanwhile, sources from the Municipality report that the deputy mayors, whom Rama asked to leave a few days ago, are still in office. (A2 Televizion)
