On World Election Day, the Head of the OSCE Presence in Albania, Ambassador Michel Tarran, emphasized the importance of democratic processes and the power of citizens in shaping the country's future.
Ambassador Tarran recalled that the general elections of May 11 are a key moment for Albanian democracy, encouraging citizens to actively participate in the electoral process. He stressed the importance of verifying voter registration through the Civil Registry Offices, the CEC or the e-Albania portal.
A historic aspect of these elections is the opportunity for Albanians abroad to vote for the first time. The Ambassador called on all voters abroad to register by the March 4, 2025 deadline to exercise their right.
"Today, on International Election Day, we wish to bring to attention the importance of democratic processes, the fundamental right to vote, and the power of citizens' voices in shaping the future of Albania."
The general elections on 11 May will be a significant moment for democracy in Albania, as citizens elect their representatives to the Assembly for the next four years. Active participation in the elections strengthens public trust in democratic institutions and processes, ensuring that every vote counts. Check your voter registration on the voter list extract at the Civil Status Office of your administrative unit, on the website/application of the Central Election Commission, or via the e-Albania portal.
These elections are also historic because for the first time, eligible Albanian citizens who do not live in Albania will have the opportunity to vote from abroad. To properly exercise this right and help shape the future of Albania, we encourage all eligible voters abroad to register by March 4, 2025, according to the CEC guidelines.
We particularly appreciate the essential role of young people in building a stronger democracy. Get informed, get involved and make your voice heard by voting! In close cooperation with the CEC, the OSCE Presence in Albania remains committed to supporting the widest possible participation of young people in the elections and to promoting an inclusive electoral process.
"Your vote matters! Your voice shapes the future!", concludes the ambassador's response. (A2 Televizion)
