"The fight against corruption is the Achilles' heel in our efforts to build a country with a strong economy and a society with social justice and human solidarity." This is what Speaker Elisa Spiropali expressed at the meeting of the Special Parliamentary Committee for Good Governance and Anti-corruption, which takes place with the presence of ambassadors accredited to Albania, for the process of deepening the reforms of good governance, rule of law and anti-corruption.
"The final goal of the government is the well-being of the citizens, but corruption is an obstacle to achieving this goal. The fight against corruption is the Achilles' heel in our efforts to build a country with a strong economy and a society with social justice and human solidarity. Albania's achievements in the fight against corruption are visible and measurable and have been evaluated by all reports and are visible in the daily life of citizens. It is enough to remember a few years ago how the stands where services were taken resembled prison bars, rather than the places where services were taken. The time when paying for a certificate is over. Many sectors continue to be at risk of corruption. The perception of corruption is at an even higher level" , said Spiropali.
But never before has the justice system been so functional and more independent than it is now.
"SPAK and GJKKO have proven that the time of untouchables in this country has always ended. The unpunished yesterday and today know very well that they will return the stolen sugar and will be left with the alum separated from it. But without any political shield, covered head to toe by political shields, but all aware that such power returned to the public. Never before has the justice system been so functional, more independent than now. It is leading to the irrevocable escape of the culture of impunity", continued Spiropali.
