Prime Minister Edi Rama dismissed claims that Albania will host Palestinian citizens. During an “episode” of his new Facebook video series, “Eye to Eye,” in which he responds to followers, Rama singled out a comment from a person who suggested that voting for him would lead to Albania being filled with Palestinians.
"But why? Or that's how a voice came from the swamp. It's all a fabrication, as fabrications quickly take their course. Because the expression that "When the truth has not yet put on its pants, the lie has made the rounds of the world" applies to this case as well, Rama said.
The relocation of Palestinians to Albania was initially denied by the Prime Minister on January 27, when he dismissed as untrue several claims by Israeli media that the Trump administration was in negotiations with the Albanian government about this.
Since that day, Trump has repeatedly stated that his goal is to remove Palestinians from Gaza, to transform the territory into the "Riviera of the Middle East," writes A2 CNN. He initially said that Jordan and Egypt would have to host the Palestinians of Gaza, but was immediately met with rejection by the two Arab states.
There have been numerous reactions against it from Saudi Arabia and other countries. The last to strongly reject the idea was German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, during a visit to Turkey.
Gaza is currently almost completely destroyed by Israeli bombing, which began shortly after October 7, 2023, when Hamas militants killed over 1,000 people, about 700 of them civilians, in an organized attack inside Israeli territory.
The ensuing conflict, which ended a few weeks ago with a ceasefire, is reported to have killed over 45,000 Palestinians in Gaza. (A2 Televizion)
