Prime Minister Edi Rama, present at the meeting of the Special Parliamentary Committee for Good Governance and Anticorruption, which takes place with the presence of ambassadors accredited to Albania, declared that "our ambition is to join Albania in the EU within this decade".
"We are here today to discuss after a very important and fundamental first phase for the integration process has been completed. The vast majority of sincere supporters of Albania's European path, and this includes everyone, from well-wishers to critics, have no idea what this phase of negotiations for EU membership is. Beyond what it seems, this phase is a dizzying phase in terms of the concrete tasks that the Republic of Albania should perform and not the government simply", said Rama.
The Prime Minister added with irony: "While our ambition is to join the EU within this decade, adding the very aggressive plan agreed together with the European Commission, for Albania to complete all tasks by 2027, make it impossible for us to live quietly with skepticism and reluctance, let alone accusations and attempts to hinder the process. "When I mention SPAK and justice, there are many sensitivities and forces that are committed to defend themselves and I was not able to avoid this issue here because I want to remind everyone that the Socialist Party is the leading force of Justice Reform and without this strength and without the conviction and iron will of the SP, not America, not Europe, but everyone coming together would not have been able to make the Justice Reform possible", added Edi Rama.
