The Socialist Party agrees to extend the deadline for those Albanian citizens living abroad who have applied to register on the PER platform. But not to give the opportunity to emigrants who have not yet entered the system.
In a statement distributed to the media by the Socialist Party representative at the CEC, Elena Xhina, she announced that the Socialist Party supports extending the deadline only for those citizens who currently appear in the system as rejected applicants.
"Considering the fact that these citizens have responded positively to the CEC's call for registration; have expressed their clear will within the stated deadline; are in considerable number (42,000); currently have an open account in the system and have been recognized the right to reapply despite being rejected; extending the deadline by a few days may create a last chance for them to correct the deficiencies and confirm their registration."
The Socialist Party emphasizes that this postponement measure has no reason to apply to other applicants outside this category, who do not currently have an open account in the PER system.
According to her, "thanks to the commitment of the CEC but also of the political forces with the extensive information campaign, we estimate that there was sufficient time for every interested citizen to become part of the process by March 4th."
"Any extension of the deadline for the category of applicants who have not yet shown interest could again be considered insufficient and would defeat the very logic of deadlines in such a process. Meanwhile, granting additional time to those applicants who are rejected in the system would serve to exhaust all possibilities so that their willingness to become part of the process would not go to waste!", emphasizes the socialist representative.
