Albania welcomes today the Giro D'italia 2025, the famous cycling tour that for the first time in history is taking place in our country. The race will start today, May 9th in Durrës and end on May 11th in Vlora.
For this reason, authorities have announced bans and restrictions on vehicle traffic and parking on some of the most frequented roads and areas.
184 competitors were presented at a special ceremony in "Skënderbej" Square, while the eyes of 800 million viewers are expected to be in our country for three days. The teams arrived in Tirana on May 5 and 6, while on Thursday they moved to Durrës to prepare for the start of the competition.
The terrain, which includes in particular the climb to Gracen (13.5 km at 5.2%) and the double climb to Surrel (4.9 km at 5.4%), is perfect for cyclists like Wout Van Aert, Tom Pidcock or Mads Pedersen who dream of wearing the pink jersey for this 108th edition of the "Giro".
The 108th edition of this tournament will be held in 3 stages, with the three main points being Durrës, Tirana and Vlora. Athletes coming from every country in the world, from Japan to the closest countries in Europe, while champions from Slovenia or Belgium will not be missing.
