The flu has arrived, Bino: Type A circulating, symptoms similar to COVID-19

Flu season has just begun. The Institute of Public Health confirms the first cases for this season with influenza type A. Silva Bino, head of infectious diseases at the IHP, indicates that the signs of the flu virus are currently very similar to those of COVID-19.

The latter is still dominating the flu and other viruses in circulation. Bino tells A2 that this winter will also be busy in terms of the epidemiological situation. 

In the cold season, it is expected that there will be circulation of flu, under its types, the presence of COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses. Like COVID-19, the flu can be fatal for people with weak immunity or the chronically ill.

Silva Bino recommends getting the flu and COVID vaccine at the same time, regardless of how many doses you may have received earlier. The Institute of Public Health is conducting the identification of circulating influenza subtypes. In the meantime, the flu vaccine continues in the health centers, which contains the type A strain already present in our country. This year there is an increased demand from the population for the flu vaccine, while the opposite is happening with the anti-COVID doses. (A2 Televizion)
